EC Observers Briefed About November 30 Preparedness

HYDERABAD: District election Officer (DEO) Ronald Rose and city police commissioner Sandeep Shandilya briefed Election Commission observers on the comprehensive measures being taken to ensure an incident-free and fair polling.

The interaction was held at the TS Police Integrated Command and Control Centre (TSPICCC) here on Thursday.

Rose elaborated about the integration of technology for surveillance, implementation of webcasting, facilitating real-time monitoring of polling stations and posting micro observers at critical polling stations.

Shandilya said that central armed police forces (CAPFs) will be deployed at sensitive polling stations, which will be further bolstered by 391 route mobile teams, comprising armed personnel. Another, 129 patrolling vehicles, 220 blue colts and 122 other vehicles will be on the field to respond to Dial 100 calls and attend to eventualities.

He said that a network of 45 flying squad and 45 static surveillance teams, along with static pickets are already operational. Special strike force, comprising 28 ACPs and seven DCP rank officers will be deployed, he said.

Approximately, nine task force teams and an equal number of special force and 71 inspectors along with 125 SIs will act as QRT.

No action and less than desired reaction by the police to a particular situation will be dealt with severely. All SHOs were instructed to remain vigilant and monitor the situation.

EC observers recommended deploying individuals well acquainted with the area, ensuring a thorough understanding of the local context.
