Kakinada: Six persons died on the spot while four were severely injured in a road accident near Boddigudem village of Chinturu mandal in Alluri Sitaramaraju district on Tuesday evening. According to Chinturu police, 10 persons from Bastar district in Chhattisgarh went to Bhadrachalam.
While they were travelling by a van, a speeding iron-ore laden lorry from Chhattisgarh heading towards Badrachalam hit the van. Six persons died on the spot and four became unconscious. The injured persons were admitted to primary health centre at Yeduguru Rallapalli village. After first aid, they were admitted to government hospital at Bhadrachalam.
The assistant superintendent of police of Chinturu Maheswara Reddy and ITDA project officer Farmana Ahmed Khan visited the PHC and took steps for better treatment of the injured persons. Chinturu sub-inspector Yadagiri said a case was registered.
