Hyderabad: The state recorded 873 new Covid-19 cases and four deaths from the disease on Saturday, taking the total so far to 2,63,526 and the fatalities to 1,430.
The highest number of daily cases continued to come from the GHMC area, with the state health department saying on Sunday that 152 fresh cases were found in the urban conglomeration of which Hyderabad city forms a major part. The second and third highest number of cases were reported from Medchal-Malkajgiri district, which had 78 cases, and Ranga Reddy district, which had 71, respectively.
According to the health department, the GHMC area, as on Saturday night, had 63 Covid-19 containment zones. Sixteen of these were in Charminar zone, while the Khairatabad zone had 19, Serilingampally 16, Kukatpally 10 and Secunderabad one containment zone.
According to the health department, 1,296 persons were declared recovered from the disease in the 24-hour period ending 8 pm on Saturday. There were 11,643 active Covid-19 cases of whom 9,345 were in isolation either at home or were receiving treatment in various hospitals.
