Kannur International Airport Limited assures priority for evictees
KANNUR: The members of the families who lost their houses during the acquisition process will be given priority in the recruitment to the Kannur International Airport Limited. They will get relaxation in the qualifying examinations marks, age limit, work experience, grace mark and also priority during the interview, said KIAL officials. The candidates from the rehabilitated families had recently staged a protest accusing the KIAL of not keeping the promises about job opportunities during the appointments to the fire and safety department of the airport.
“The KIAL will keep the promises made to the families. More number of vacancies will be available in the supporting institutions and agencies. In the advertisement for the selection process of the cargo and ground-handling agencies, we have made it clear,” said a KIAL press release. Meanwhile, the work at the airport site is going on in full swing. The authorities are planning to start the first service by September next year. The fourth phase of land acquisition is also will be completed by that time to extend the runway to 4,000 feet.
