Open roads, demand SCB residents
Hyderabad: Around 300 residents of the Secunderbad Cantonment protested against the closure of roads in the cantonment area. The residents, from Bolaram, Yapral and Risala Bazaar, who will be affected by the road closure, held a candlelight march from Alwal Rythu Bazaar to Bolaram on Saturday evening.
The Green Sainikpuri community, Federation of North East Colonies, Secunderabad Cantonment Residents Welfare Association, Federation of New Bolaram Colonies Association and Malkajgiri Residents Welfare Association want the roads closed by the SCB to be opened. They said that the SCB had recently mentioned the closure of six roads which had been shut for six years.
A protester said, “The SCB is not following the defence ministers orders of May 2018 which says no road should be closed for civilians in the cantonments. We are demanding the opening of all roads for the general public immediately.”
