Karimnagar: A video of a vegetable vendor selling liquor along with vegetables in his push cart by roaming in Sircilla town in a protest against the liquor policy by the state government went viral on social media in Rajanna Sircilla district on Saturday.
The vendor was identified as Somishetty Dasharatham, a native of Shanti Nagar of Sircilla town, which is being represented by IT minister K.T. Rama Rao. In the video, he was heard shouting, “Prajala vaddaku KCR liquor bottles” (KCR liquor at doorstep). Beer, brandy, whiskey and vegetables are at cheaper prices.”
The unique protest by Dasharatham nonplussed the people in the colonies and passersby, evoking sniggers and chuckles.
When some people asked him out of curiosity why he was selling liquor along with vegetables in his cart, he replied that he decided to protest the liquor policy being implemented by the BRS government in a unique way to grab the attention of people and educate them as liquor was flowing in the state.
“If the people vote the BRS to power for a third consecutive time, it will transform the entire state into a ‘booziest state’ with many becoming addicted to the consumption of alcohol, making one-third of the women in the state widows,” he said.
Some people appreciated Dasharatham for his novel protest by circulating the video of him on social media platforms.
