Anantapur: Two children were crushed to death while another three sustained serious injuries when a Bolero vehicle carrying a Lord Ganesh idol in a procession rammed into public in Yemmiganur town of Kurnool district late on Thursday night.
The decorated Bolero carrying the Ganesh idol started in a procession from the SMT colony on Thursday night. The driver failed to control his vehicle and crashed into devotees participating in the procession.
Manoj, 7, and Raju, 16, were killed on the spot while Dhanush, Ramesh and Lakshmi suffered serious injuries. The injured trio have been shifted to the hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.
Yemmiganur police have registered a case and shifted bodies of the deceased to Yemmiganur hospital for post-mortem.
