Land Acquisition Act: HC issues notice to finance department
Hyderabad: A division bench of the Telangana High Court has issued notice to principal secretary of the state finance department for not releasing the compensation amount to land losers under the Land Acquisition Act, the papers on which are kept pending for years in various districts.
The bench comprising acting Chief Justice Ramachandra Rao and Justice Vinod Kumar issued the notice.
Finance secretary Ramakrishna Rao has been directed to appear before the court on October 29 to explain the reasons for not releasing the money. For, the Telangana government had already issued a GO according administrative sanction for the disbursal of the amount, but the money was not released because the finance ministry has kept the matter pending.
Despite the government's undertakings in 2019 and 2020, stating that the amounts will be deposited into the accounts of these people under the Land Acquisition Act, the same was not released.
Principal district judge, Mahbubnagar, addressed a letter dated 24-6-2017 to the high court about the large pendency of execution petitions filed by the land-losers. It said the land- losers were facing hurdles in getting their money from the government. The court, thereon, turned the letter into a suo motu PIL.
