CM Pinarayi Vijayan trivialises crimes, says Ramesh Chennithala

He added that the DGP is also silent about the special squad he promised to form for women and children.

Kannur/ Kozhikode: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was trivialising crimes in the state, and he was “non-reactive” to the attacks on women and children. “The BJP rule at Centre and the CPM rule in the state are competing each other in cases of murder and attacks," he said inaugurating the peace meeting organised by UDF state committee here on Thursday. "As the state government completes 100 days, 312 attacks were reported. In Kannur alone, six political murders took place. The state is unsafe even for a 90-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl.”

He added that the DGP is also silent about the special squad he promised to form for women and children. Former chief minister Oommen Chandy said in Nadapuram, at another peace meeting organised by block Congress committee that the government should shun apathy and streamline activities to capture the accused in Muhammed Aslam murder case. “The accused should be held, and the family of the victim given compensation,” he said. Mullappally Ramachandran MP, T. Siddique, K. Praveen Kumar and DCC president K.C. Abu attended the peace gathering.
