No decision yet on VS Achuthanandan's office, staff
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More than two weeks after the Cabinet decided to appoint V.S. Achuthanandan as chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission, there is still no final decision on the office or staff to be allotted to him. Sources said the government was planning to set up the office of ARC in the new annex block behind the secretariat. Discussions are also on regarding the official residence to be allotted to the veteran leader. Various buildings are being considered including Kawdiar House.
There is still no clarity on how many staff members would be allotted to Mr Achuthanandan, who is mostly confined to his rented house at Thampuran Mukku near the general hospital these days. A couple of staff members, who were with him while he was the Opposition leader, are continuing in personal capacity since there is no official word on the staff strength to be attached to him.
“We have not received any intimation so far on the office or staff. No idea why it is getting delayed,” said former chief secretary C P Nair, who was appointed as one of the members of the commission along with Neela Gangadharan. Both have been given the rank of chief secretary.
