Advocate seeks HC directive for floor test
BENGALURU: The tussle over the vote of confidence motion moved by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has reached the High Court with advocate Ananda Murthy filing a PIL seeking a direction to conclude the proceedings in a time-bound manner by conducting a floor test.
“The matter involves serious issues which are of public importance, constitutional and statutory rights of the people of Karnataka, conflict of interest between the constitutional authorities like Governor, chief minister, Speaker, Legislators and citizens of the state, questions of rule of law and role of the judiciary in safeguarding the rights and interests of the citizen and dignity of the democratic system,” the PIL states.
The PIL also says that no administrative, financial and policy decisions should be taken till the completion of the confidence motion proceedings and if any such decisions have been taken place after the confidence motion was moved, they should be declared null and void.
