Thiruvananthapuram: The Vanchiyoor police on Friday registered a case against unidentified mediapersons for allegedly injuring Pathirapally Krishnakumari, a woman advocate, during the face-off between advocates and mediapersons at the district court on Thursday. Adv. Krishnakumari, in her sixties, is a former director of Kerala State Woman’s Development Corporation (KSWDC).
She was here to solve the dispute between mediapersons and advocates when she was hit by a stone on her head. “She had seven stitches on her head. She claimed that a stone was hurled by the mediapersons who had gathered outside. Being a senior member of the Bar Council, she had come to initiate a peace talk,” said Vanchiyoor SI Saiju Nath.
The bleeding lawyer was carried by other lawyers to a hospital at Fort where she is recuperating from her injuries. “She was a member of All-India Democratic Women’s Association and is a guru to many of the eminent lawyers in the court. There was an attack from journalists as well and this fight has to stop for good,” said a colleague of Adv. Krishnakumari.
Meanwhile, the lawyers attached to Attingal Bar Council organised a protest against mediapersons and ousted a lawyer who came there in spite of a court boycott. The mediapersons at Neyyatinkara staged a ‘shayanapradaskinam’ to Neyyatinkara court. Dozens of policemen were deployed in and around Vanchiyoor district court to avoid untoward incidents on Friday.
