Warangal: Stating that deforestation is one of the biggest reasons for the alarming state of the environment and scanty rainfall Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari on Friday took part in the Haritha Haram.
Mr Srihari, along with Warangal mayor N. Narender, corporators and MLAs planted saplings at the GWMC office here.
Later, Mr Srihari told the gathering that the state government has set a target of planting 230 crore saplings across the state. Mr Narender said they would achieve the target of 15 lakh saplings very soon and are ready for any target set by the state government.
Mr Narender said that as on Friday, 4,55,419 saplings were planted in Warangal.
Mr Srihari also took part in Haritha Haram held at Inavolu.
