CM Pinarayi Vijayan vows to go ahead with Puthuvypeen LPG terminal plant

He also said the project had been given clearance by all agencies concerned including the National Green Tribunal.

Kochi: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has reiterated the determination of the government to go ahead with the LPG import and storage plant at Puthuvypen by taking the people into confidence. Taking part in an interactive session with prominent individuals in Kochi on Thursday, Pinarayi said the expert committee project would address the concerns expressed by the local people. He also said the project had been given clearance by all agencies concerned including the National Green Tribunal.

He sought the support of the entire society for waste processing in the state. Special schemes would be launched in the state between June 27 and June 29 for clearing the garbage. The focus would be on processing the waste at source, he said, and added that the local bodies and the people would join together to implement the scheme as per the specific requirements of the area. Pinarayi also said rivers and other water bodies in the state would be cleaned in the second phase of the Harita Mission project in the state.

On implementing GST, Pinarayi said the concerns of the traders and merchants would be addressed. He also allayed concerns about the eviction of encroachers in Munnar. Big encroachers in Munnar should not expect any leniency, he said but added that the government would consider a sympathetic approach to people with tiny landholdings. Mr. Pinarayi also assured that the concerns of the medical fraternity in connection with the Clinical Establishment Bill would be addressed.

He also said that the proposal to extend the licences of trading and merchant establishments to three years from the existing one year was under the consideration of the government. MK Sanu, Dr Jose Chacko Periapuram, Justice Narayana Kurup, Sebastian Paul, Bose Krishnamachari, Riyas Komu and several others representing industry and commerce attended the session held as part of the completion of one year of the LDF government.
