When fashionistas create paint palettes
Chennai: Nippon paints have short-listed nine design patterns of National Institute of Fashion technology (NIFT) to create designs through a new range of special effect paints launched by the paint company on Wednesday.
Various innovative themes were showcased by the students, which would be used by Nippon for the promotional activities. Fourth year student of NIFT, Niharika Singh explained to DC about her piece of work titled, Silver lining.
“Inspired by the phrase, ‘Every cloud has a silver lining’, my work reiterates on staying motivated during tough times. The blue background with a silver lining displays hope and connects to people with various personalities,” said Niharika.
Second year student, Urvashi who finished third in the competition attributed the success to NI FT for the constant encouragement. “My work ‘Braided Spell’ drew inspiration from a woman’s braid. I made it in a brown and off white combination,” she added.
The special effect paint, Momento focuses on reaching out to homeowners who are looking to redo their homes based on their respective personalities, said President of Nippon Paint, Mahesh Anand during the launch. “As designed by NIFT students, the patterns using ‘Momento’ range of products are easy-to-use and ideal for homeowners who enjoy painting their own living spaces,” he added.
Assistant general manager (marketing) of Nippon paints, Bharath M Raja, said that the move adds uniqueness to the designer finish paints. Director of NIFT, Anita Mabel Manohar said that the association with Nippon paints has given the students, a platform to showcase the design talent.
