Officials told to take precautionary steps for floods

KAKINADA: The CPM Kunavaram mandal committee urged that ITDA authorities take preventative measures in preparation for the impending floods.

On Monday, a committee meeting was held in Kunavaram. According to CPM mandal secretary Payam Sitharamayayya, the residents of the agency area, particularly five merged mandals such as Chinturu, Yetapaka, Kunavaram, V.R. Puram, Kukkunuru, and Velerupadu, encountered a slew of challenges as a result of last year's floods since officials failed to assist them in a timely manner.

He stated that officers should stockpile rice, red dal, oil, and other essential commodities in non-flood affected areas such as Kothulagutta, Narsing Peta, Pochavaram colony, and other areas and that the transportation system should be improved by developing the road connecting Kothulagutta to Yedugurralapalli and Buradagudem to Vekavarigudem villages.

He warned the government that unless the officials responded correctly to their demands, the party will initiate an agitation against it. Akula Muralikrishna, Payam Satyanarayana, Kunja Radha, K. Srinivasa Rao, and other CPM leaders were there.
