Kozhikode: District collector Seeram Sambasiva Rao, who is also the district electoral officer, said all arrangements are in place for counting of votes cast in the April 23 Lok Sabha election on Thursday.
At the JDT Islam Education Complex, they successfully conducted trial runs on Wednesday. He also declared a holiday for the institution which is the counting centre for Kozhikode and Vatakara constituencies.
The central armed police forces are guarding the campus.
The district collector also directed the BSNL, the water authority, municipal corporation, panchayats and National Highway Authority of India to stop all ongoing repairing works till May 25 to ensure seamless broadband connectivity.
The repairing and road maintenance works may cause cutting of BSNL cables affecting the data transfer.
1300 counting staff in Kannur In Kannur, 1,300 officials are on vote counting durty at the Chinmaya Institute of Technology, Chala, according to district collector Mir Muhammad Ali.
The votes polled at 1172 polling stations will be counted here after postal and service votes. Separate halls are ready for counting for each assembly constituency. Trends would start trickling in by 9 am.
