Chennai: Homeopathy doctor found dead at home
Chennai: Mystery shrouds the death of an 82-year-old homoeopathy doctor who was found dead in his residence on Ramachandra road, Pondy Bazaar, on Sunday night. While police officers have ruled out the possibility of murder, the family has approached the police to investigate foul play.
The deceased, Natarajan, lived with his wife Mangayarkarasi. He ran a homoeopathy clinic on Theyagaraya road in T Nagar. The couple’s son, Tamil Sithan, also a homoeopathy doctor, lives with his family in Tambaram while one daughter, Kalaivani lives in Tirupur and the other, Gnana Ratham in Chennai, police said.
On Sunday, Mangayarkarasi and Gnanaratham had gone to Ulundurpet on a personal work. The duo returned around 11 pm to find Natarajan dead inside the bathroom. Pondy Bazaar police rushed to the house and moved the body to the Government hospital for post mortem.
Meanwhile, on Monday, family members petitioned the police to investigate foul play in the death of the octogenarian. Police sources said that the deceased doctor used to have clients from the cinema industry and a property dispute in Bengaluru existed over one of the deals involving a small-time film producer.
A senior police officer ruled out the possibility of murder and suggested that the man slipped and fell in the bathroom. “The family didn’t want the post-mortem to be conducted today (Monday). After the autopsy results, we will get a clear picture of the cause of the death,” the officer said.
