Railways, cement industry to facilitate each other's growth

HYDERABAD: Indian Railway officials and representatives from the cement industry met on Saturday to discuss infrastructural requirements for future growth, policy interventions to aid cement transportation and other issues for improving the rail coefficient and logistics.

In the last financial year, the railways registered a loading of 144 million tonnes of cement and clinker. South Central Railway (SCR) achieved 34.499 MT of cement loading in 2022-23 against 34.108 MT in 2021-22. Incidentally, this was the best-ever originating loading achieved by the zone in cement and clinker.
