How do you describe your achievements in the past 10 years?
When I took over as MLA, sanitary lines and roads were in a pathetic condition. Now, we have not only laid new sanitary lines and constructed roads, but also rejuvenated lakes. Iblur is one of the examples and at Sarakki Lake too work has been taken up. Extensive work on storm water drains at 28 different locations has been taken up. Door-to-door garbage collection covers more than 38,000 houses now.
Are you confident of coming back to power the third time?
Yes because I am riding on the developmental agenda and I have carried out many works. We have built schools and initiated a proper garbage disposal system. I am confident of coming back to power.
There are serious concerns about the compost plant. Can you assure the people that it will be closed?
I ensure that the plant will be shut. It was closed during the BJP’s tenure and the first thing the Congress did after coming back to power was to open it. I had meetings with authorities but nothing came out of them. Even the CM was in favour of running the plant. Somasundarapalaya Lake rejuvenation has already been started and it will be completed within five months. After May 16, if we come to power, the plant will be shut.
