Kottayam: The Santhanpara police have  taken into custody two persons for allegedly installing a wooden cross at Papathichola near Chinnakanal in Munnar where a cross was demolished by revenue authorities on Thursday. The wooden cross was removed by the police  on Saturday morning. Those taken into custody are Raju, 40, of Wayanad, and Siby, 39, of Rajakumary,  activists of the controversial organisation ‘Spirit in Jesus.’

They confessed to the crime and will be presented before  the Nedumkandom JFMC.  The police have charged the two with encroachment and for causing communal disharmony. The police had earlier  registered a case against Toms Scaria of the ‘Spirit in Jesus’ for encroaching on the revenue land.
