Ugadi festival held with fervour at Srisailam

Anantapur: The Ugadi festival was held with great fervour at the Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bramarambhika Temple in Srisailam on Wednesday.

As part of the ongoing Ugadi Utsavalu, the Karnataka devotees offered poojas while traditional offerings were made by Veerashivas at the agnigundam on Tuesday night.

Goddess Bramarambhika gave darshan while the Ramavani Sahitha Rajarajeswari and Utsav idols were taken out with the Rathotsavam in the streets of Srisailam. The chariot was exclusively decorated with flowers. Large number of Karnataka devotees formed part of the Rathotsavam.

More than four lakh devotees from Karnataka and Maharashtra thronged Srisailam for the occasion. The devotees offered sari and traditional items to Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bramarambhika.

Temple executive officer S. Lavanna said additional counters of prasadam and anna prasdam were set up in Srisailam. Additional forces have been posted at all sensitive parts of Srisailam and nearby areas in view of the previous seasons’ violence by Karnataka devotees.
