Anand felicitates inspector, sub-inspector for saving lives

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad city police commissioner C.V. Anand on Wednesday felicitated Panjagutta inspector C. Harishchandra Reddy and Banjara Hills sub-inspector S. Karunakar Reddy for their efforts in saving the lives of ABVP cadres who tried to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan on Tuesday.

Karunakar Reddy, an ex-officer of the Indian Navy alone saved lives of 16 workers when the vehicle transporting them went out of control, as a result of its driver developing seizures while at the wheel. Reddy who was accompanying the detainees jumped from the vehicle, ran ahead of it, entered the driver’s cabin, took control and stopped the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Harishchandra Reddy came to the rescue of one of the workers who collapsed while protesting. After giving him CPR, Harishchandra Reddy carried him on his shoulders, put him in an autorickshaw to be shifted to a nearby hospital where the worker recovered after treatment.
