Hyderabad: The onset of summer is bringing out cobras from wooded areas like Cherlapally, Balanagar, Jubilee Hills, Old Alwal, Yapral and Kompally into residential areas. Mr Sandeep Putta of Friends of Snake said most calls were regarding the sighting of cobras. Many of them were spotted close to storm water drains, nalas and open areas. “There have been cases of where snakes were found resting inside the kitchen sink.”
There were cases of people killing the cobras. Mr Govind Bachupally, a resident in Madhuranagar in Old Alwal said most people were scared of snakes and their first instinct was to kill them. Friends of Snakes runs a 24x7 7 helpline on the phone number 8374233366. A volunteer would reach the area, rescue the snake and leave it in the jungle.
