YSR Congress call for House probe rejected
Hyderabad: The AP government has rejected a demand from YSRC member Kakani Govardhan Rddy to constitute a House Committee to inquire into the alleged irregularities in the works for the thermal power station near Krishnapatnam port in Nellore district.
Minister K. Atchennaidu said he would send a senior officer to check if any irregularities were committed and if any such instance was found, action would follow.
During Question Hour in the Assembly on Tuesday, minister Atchennaidu said no works were entrusted on nomination basis without inviting tenders for the works on the thermal power station located nearer to Krishnapatnam port. YSRC member Kakani Govardhan Reddy said the works worth about Rs 1.32 crore were given on nomination basis by splitting them, below Rs 5 lakh to each wo-rk.
He got the information through a Right to Information Act.
The YSRC member said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu always said if he was shown evidence about any irregularity, he would take action. Now he was showing evidence and the government should take action. He demanded that a House Committee be constituted to inquire into the issue. The minister said he will send one officer from Hyderabad to make enquiries.
