Telangana Assembly Speaker pays Rs 30,000, gets fancy No. 5555 for his car

Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary has opted for a fancy number (5555) for his personal vehicle. Mr Chary reached the RTA office at Khairatabad on Tuesday for registration of the number for which an application was made two weeks back. As no other motorist had applied for the same number, it was allotted to Mr Chary without an auction.

As per the rules, if there is more than one applicant for the same number, an auction will take place and the highest bidder is allotted the number. JTC T. Raghunath said the fee for a fancy number like 5555 was Rs 30,000 and Mr Chary paid the amount. When asked about the reason for choosing this particular number, Mr Chary smiled and said, “Human beings have sentiments.”
