Bengaluru: After fire accident, KSRTC to increase vigilance

The KSRTC has now decided to increase scrutiny of the goods carried by the passengers, especially in long-route, night buses.

Bengaluru: The fire in a KSRTC bus near Arasinakunte on the city outskirts early on Tuesday morning has raised several questions on the safety of passengers in night buses.

If the authorities are to be believed that inflammable material caused the accident, then it only points to serious lapses on their part as they are allowing dangerous substances to be carried in night buses without any checks.

KSRTC officials, however, said that the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained as they are yet to receive the forensic report. "Our experts have confirmed that the fire was not because of mechanical issues in the bus," they said.

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has now decided to increase scrutiny of the goods carried by the passengers, especially in long-route, night buses.

"Many a time passengers carry inflammable material without realising it could cause fires. We have directed all our crew members to take extra effort to ensure that passengers do not carry any such inflammable material," he said.
