Suspect in munambam case taken to Kochi

The police, however, is yet to believe the claim of Prabhu, who was detained in Delhi last week.

Kochi: The police team investigating the suspected illegal migration of 100-odd people from Munambam last week has brought Ravi, who was detained in Delhi on Monday on the suspicion that he was one of the organisers of the journey, to Kochi on Tuesday morning.

Police sources said the team which interrogated him now believes that Ravi was not associated with the group of organisers which included Selvam or Sreekanthan.

Sources said Ravi was forced to make trip to Kochi by his wife to get onboard Daya Matha II, the fishing vessel suspected to have left Munambam with more than 100 passengers. However, they dropped the plan considering the dangers involved and flew back to Delhi after spending two days in Kochi.

The police, however, is yet to believe the claim of Prabhu, who was detained in Delhi last week, that he failed to make the trip because of shortage of money, on its face value.
