Section 144 clamped on East Godavari by District Collector

District Collector said that the movement of five members or above, provoking speeches, processions and dharnas would not be allowed.

Kakinada: District Collector H. Arunkumar has imposed Section 144 in the entire East Godavari district from January 22 to February 10.

He said that considering the violent incidents on January 31 during Kapu Garjana led by Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham, following indefinite strike on February 5 and attacks on Amalapuram police station on June 7 and the others, the government did not want to give chance to Mudragada for taking up such incidents and imposed Section 144.

He said that owing to avoid such violence incidents due to Kapu Satyagraha Yatra, taken up by Mudragada Padmanabham from January 25, the restrictions were imposed.

He said that the movement of five members or above, provoking speeches, processions and dharnas would not be allowed. Mr Arunkumar also made it clear that ‘live telecasting for coverage of such incidents through electronic channels’ have been also prohibited.

He directed the mobile network service providers to stop cell phone internet services, bulk SMS services. The collector requested the people to cooperative with the police and district administration for protecting law and order.
