Junior Research Fellowship tests to have new security check
Thiruvananthapuram: The CBSE has introduced a new security check for the National Eligibility Test (NET) for candidates seeking to qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). One round of examinations was held on Sunday at various centres across the country, including selected schools in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode. The exams in science subjects will be held in the coming days.
Candidates were frisked at the main entry gate of the examination centre and they had to report at the centre two-and-a-half hours before the examinations. However, many complained that they could not even take breakfast as they had to report so early after two to three hours' travel. Jyothish Chandran, Chairman Jyothish Central School, Kazhakuttom, one of the centres in Thiruvananthapuram, told Deccan Chronicle that such measures would ensure the fair conduct of examination.
The candidates' ears were checked to ensure that they did not have Bluetooth, Mr Chandran said. No candidate was allowed to enter the centre after the commencement of the examination. None could leave the hall before 10. 45 a.m. in the first session, 12. 30 p.m. in the second session and 4.30 p.m. in the third session. All the examination halls were fixed with wall clocks. Calculators and log tables, mobile phones, electronic devices, bits of paper, books and notebooks were not allowed in the hall.
