1.3 lakh donate blood on CM Jagan\'s 50th birthday

Vijayawada: Nearly 1.30 lakh people, including ministers and MLAs, donated blood on Wednesday coinciding with the 50th birthday of AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Blood donation programmes were witnessed throughout the state. They reached such proportions that the event secured a place in Guinness World Records.

In a programme organised at YSRC central office in Tadepalli, international representative of Guinness Book of Records Virendra handed over a certificate and medal in this regard to YSRC general secretary and government advisor (Public Affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy.

YSRC leaders and activists organised blood donation and service-oriented programmes throughout Andhra Pradesh, apart from Telangana and other states and abroad. Indian Red Cross Society supervised the blood donation.

Ramakrishna Reddy said in all 1,29,451 registered offline and online on www.ysrcpblooddonation.com and donated blood. The event thereby entered the Guinness Book of Records, surpassing the previous record set in South Africa with 71,000 people donating blood.

The government advisor said people came forward to donate blood out of gratitude to Jagan Mohan Reddy for implementing many welfare programmes for the poor and needy.

Housing minister Jogi Ramesh donated blood at Pedana with party cadres, Other ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, party leaders and activists participated in blood donation camps in their respective districts.

Ramakrishna Reddy congratulated YSRC secretary and advisor to Skill Development Corporation Challa Madhusudhan Reddy and his IT, social media, and student wing members and party followers for their support in making the event a success.
