Hyderabad: Justice P. Madhavi Devi of the Telangana High Court directed the Kagaznagar police not to arrest or take any coercive steps against R.S. Puneeth, son of Dr. R.S. Praveen Kumar, president, Bahujan Samajwadi Party, Telangana, in a case registered against the former with Kagaznagar town police in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.

The judge was adjudicating the criminal petition filed by Puneeth, who sought a direction to stay all further proceedings in the case, which was registered against him by a de-facto complainant, Aleem Khan.

The complainant informed the police that Praveen Kumar and his followers, including Puneeth (accused no.2) had attacked the de-facto complainant and his men and had snatched Rs 25,000 from them when they were campaigning in support of BRS candidate and sitting MLA Koneru Konappa.

Earlier, the High Court had granted relief to Praveen Kumar, an accused in the same case.
