Three cases of diphtheria in Kozhikode
According to sources, a woman hailing from Kuttikattoor had tested positive for diphtheria.
KOZHIKODE: Three cases of diphtheria have reported in the district within a few days which includes one confirmed case. According to sources, a woman hailing from Kuttikattoor had tested positive for diphtheria.
She had consulted at the ENT unit of Kozhikode medical college hospital (KMCH) and left after giving the serum sample. The two suspected cases are from Madapally and Unnikulam. A 37-year old Madapally native woman, who was working in Wayanad was suspected of the disease. She is admitted at KMCH now.
According to district health office, awareness classes were conducted at areas where diphtheria was reported. Health workers are on the spot to have a close watch on the primary contacts of the affected persons.
