Chennai: A 19-year-old college girl in her second year BSc Nutrition in a government aided college in Chengalpet committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room on Wednesday morning.
The victim was identified as Hemamalini, daughter of Ravi, a church employee in Anna Nagar residing in Thiruvallur.
Police said the hostel warden found the girl dead on Wednesday afternoon when the warden went to the room as the girl failed to turn up for lunch.
“The warden had taken her to doctor in the morning after she complained of chest pain. The doctor diagnosed gastritis and gave medicine. It is not clear what forced her to take the extreme step. No suicide note was found,” the police said.
