Kakinada: A 2-kilogram mushroom was found by Md.Sarojini in Mentevari Thota in Bhimavaram. According to market sources, it costs nearly Rs 700 to Rs 900.
Sarojini took the mushroom to the Rythu Bazaar, where farmers were amazed by its size. They said that they had never seen such a big mushroom before.
Generally, mushrooms are only around 100 grams in size. However, Krishi Viznana Kendram scientist Mallikarjuna Rao warned against consuming the mushroom. He said that large mushrooms can be poisonous and that there are about 20 poisonous varieties of mushrooms in India.
Rao advised people to only consume mushrooms that have been identified by a qualified mushroom expert. He also said that people should avoid eating mushrooms that have been found growing in polluted areas.
