Petition filed against Sishu Vihar over deaths

Achyuta Rao further requested the SHRC to direct the principal secretary, women and child welfare department to enquire.

Hyderabad: A petition was filed against the state-run Shishu Vihar, SR Nagar in the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) alleging that the negligence of the staff and officials of Shishu Vihar was the cause for the death of three children in a span of one month.

Raising concerns over the deaths of three children, a newborn, 4-year-old Nithya and 9-month-old Sathya Sri in the last month and another 17 days-old-baby who died on Tuesday (August 20). Achyuta Rao, president of Balala Hakula Sangham who filed the petition stated, “The children were taken in an auto rickshaw instead of calling for an ambulance; this clearly shows the negligence of the officials.”

He further requested the SHRC to direct the principal secretary, women and child welfare department to enquire and initiate action against the officials responsible for this callous behaviour.
