IIM-Kozhikode completes 20 years of excellence
Kozhikode: Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIMK) has grown significantly in its intellectual output, resources and infrastructure over the last 20 years, according to Pankaj Chandra, chairman, Board of Management, Ahmedabad University and former director, IIM Bangalore.
Dr Chandra was delivering the Foundation Day lecture, organised to mark the completion of two decades of the premier management institute. Dr Chandra also inaugurated an exhibition on the 20-year journey of the institute towards academic excellence.
Founded in 1996, IIMK was the fifth IIM set up by the Government of India. It started its first post-graduate programme (PGP) with 42 students in 1997. The PGP student intake for 2016 was 384, thus making it the fastest growing management school in the country.
According to Kulbhushan Balooni, director in-charge, IIM Kozhikode, “The IIM Kozhikode community has made concerted efforts to put the institute on the academic map of India. We worked collectively with our diverse ideas to put up this institute and established it in the current position. We will strive to do better in the coming years and contribute to the nation building process.”
Dr Balooni highlighted the achievements in the last two decades such as the setting up a centre of centre of excellence jointly with the Kerala government to help SC/ST students overcome deficiencies in communication and personality, raising women enrolment to more than 30 per cent and opening the first Indian Business Museum in 2013.
