GHMC clears fallen trees, Rose visits affected areas

Hyderabad: Hyderabad experienced relentless rainfall on Friday, resulting in multiple tree falls, waterlogging on roads, and flooding in some colonies. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's Emergency Vigilance and Disaster Management (EV&DM) teams, along with municipal commissioner Ronald Rose and EVDM director Prakash Reddy, promptly responded to attend to the affected areas. The water clogging and flooding occurred due to the overflow from ponds and nalas.

The DRF teams received a total of 47 complaints on Friday and they successfully addressed and resolved 33 cases of tree falls, 11 instances of water stagnation, 2 wall collapses, and even rescued a trapped cat.

Rose inspected the ongoing nala works in Nallakunta Padma Colony, which had previously experienced flooding in May. The completion of retaining walls was supposed to be done before the monsoon season, but it remained unfinished. He urged the authorities to expedite the completion of these retaining walls immediately.

Another area of concern that commissioner Rose inspected was Street No. 14 in Himayatnagar, which had been inundated. The DRF team pumped out the water and directed it towards the nearby nala.
