TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy contracts dengue
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy is suffering from dengue and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital, his wife Padmavati Reddy confirmed on Thursday.
“The blood platelet count was low and he was rushed to hospital,” she said. The TPCC president will require hospitalisation for four to five days.
Apart from Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy, 10 new cases of dengue were reported at Fever Hospital in the city. The patients are stable and are recovering, said Fever Hospital superintendent Dr K. Shanker.
While this is so, a quarrel has broken out between the GHMC and the health wing over the issue of spraying medicines and mosquito control. The additional director of health has lodged a complaint against the GHMC with principal secretary Rajesh Tiwari as the fogging operations are not being carried out.
A senior Water Works department officer has taken pictures of the tank area at Toli Chowki and submitted them to the GHMC but there has not been any response.
The officer said the GHMC was not ready to act despite pictures being sent to them on What’sapp from various areas. “Instead of attending to all 40 houses in a colony, they are spraying medicines in 10 while the remaining 30 are being listed,” he said.
