Karnataka: Panchayats to offer 100 services online
Bengaluru: In a bid to prevent officials from making people run from pillar to post in taluk and district offices, the rural development and panachayat raj (RDPR) department will be introducing 100 services online at the Gram Panchayat level.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, RDPR Minister Mr H.K. Patil said that the new initiative, called Panchayat 100 Bapuji Seva Kendra would take 40 Revenue Department services as well as other services like payment of electricity bills and insurance to the doorsteps of villagers. The project would be launched on August 14 in over 2,000 panchayats.
The OFC connectivity to another 1000 panchayats was underway and once the connectivity is complete, services would be provided to them too, he said. Mr Patil said that the new system would be on the lines of the Bangalore One initiative and the government was trying to introduce more services for rural people. Additional data entry operators would be outsourced to handle these units, so that the officials do not harass people.
Meanwhile, the government would be taking up Gram Swaraj-2 in 2791 Gram Panchayats spread across 25 backward districts of the State. The World Bank assisted programme would be taken up at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore, the state contribution would be Rs 400 crore.
