CPM to play up Gujarat Dalit assault
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretariat has decided to hold protest marches, demonstration in all local committees across the state against the assault on Dalits in Gujarat. The campaign is also aimed at exposing fringe elements affiliated to Sangh Parivar who were trying to target Dalits and Muslims in the name of cow. In a statement the CPM state secretariat said that seven Dalit youth were brutally beaten up on the charges of skinning a dead cow.
It said the heinous incident had evoked widespread anger and protests across Gujarat. The party said that skinning of dead cow is the occupation of Dalits and Muslms in various parts of the country especially in north India and it is also the means of livelihood for many. There is a deliberate from the side of Sangh Parivar to target Dalits and Muslims by unleashing such mindless violence against them.
The CPM said Akhlaq was lynched by mobs in Uttar Pradesh, cattle traders Mohammad Majlu and 15-year-old boy Asad Khan were beaten to death in BJP ruled Jharkhand. There have also been a series of attacks attacks on Dalits in Haryana .
The party accused the RSS and Sangh Parivar organisations of resorting to such heinous crimes against Dalits and Muslims with the motive of creating communal polarisation. The CPM called upon all democratic forces and people at large to rise up and protest against the RSS BJP attacks on Dalits across the country.
