Kollam: In a tragic incident, a two-year-old boy was choked to death after a cashew kernel he tried to eat got stuck in his windpipe here at Kottiyam on Thursday. Rayis Muhammad Rafeek who died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram is the son of Adv. Muhammad Rafeek and Sabeena of Rafeek manzil, Kannanalloore.
The cashew kernel got tangled deep inside his throat when the boy cried while having the kernel in his mouth. He suffered from asphyxia and was soon taken to a private hospital in Kottiyam where the kernel was removed from his throat. However, the situation turned worse and the kid was taken to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram for expert medical care but his life could not be saved. Rayis has a brother Fayas Muhammad Rafeek.
