Armed Reserve cops being used for the drive.

Anantapur: The Independence Day celebrations will be held this time in Anantapur as the CM is stationed there.

Because, this is a first time after many years, the Anantapur Municipal Corporation has effectively started to clean up the city and make it pig-free.

AMC started a mega drive against eradication of pigs from the corporation limits.
More than 50 AR constables are being used for the drive.

Celebrations would be held at APPA (AP Police Academy). Previously, poor sanitation by the AMC authorities increased the number pigs all over the city.
MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy had expressed his displeasure to the AMC authorities over their negligence.

Some action was taken but they failed to control the menace in residential areas. People of AP Housing Board Colony had stunned after a platoon of Armed Reserved force cops arrived on van, but had relaxed after knowing the AR force was deputed to assist the AMC to shift the pigs from the spot.

A woman Rajamaa from APHB colony recalled she had never seen such serious steps by the corporation authorities even during an epidemic outbreak.
But she is glad that the Independence Day celebrations has forced the city to clean up its act, literally speaking.

Meanwhile, the authorities chalked out sites for helipads and parking of VIP vehicles in the temporary APPA grounds.
