Hyderabad: Telangana State is making strides in all spheres as dreamt by Telangana ideologue Prof. Jayashanker, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said here on Tuesday.

Mr Rao was speaking at a meeting organised to mark the fifth death anniversary of Prof. Jayashanker. Elsewhere, TJAC chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram, in an indirect dig at the TRS government, said the Telangana ideologue wanted people-centric development and not development for the sake of “contractors, real estate developers and corporates.”

Mr Rao led the TS people in paying rich tributes to Prof Jayashanker, recalling his immense services for the cause of Telangana. “People will never forget Prof. Jayashanker who fought for Telangana through his life. He always said that unless Telangana was granted statehood, lives of the people will never improve. As dreamt by Prof Jayashanker, Telangana is making rapid strides,” Mr Rao said.

Prof Kodandaram said the Telangana ideologue wanted fruits of development to reach the people. “He had twin goals. One was achieving Telangana and another was to ensure its development. He always thought about good of the people. He said on several occasions that educated people should not be silent but must extend support for development of the state, study issues in-depth, find solutions and help in the development of the state,” Prof. Kodandaram said.

Stating that TJAC would strive to fulfil the dreams of Prof Jayashanker, Prof Kodandaram said that they would not take any hasty decision on any issue. “The void caused due to death of Prof Jayashanker can never be fulfilled nor replaced. But we will follow his ideals,” the professor said.

Tuesday was a day of sorrow for TS, as the state lost renowned folk poet and lyricist Guda Anjaiah, who had been at the forefront of Telangana statehood movement through his life.
