Violence unabated in Vadakara region
KOZHIKODE: As violence continued to rock the suburbs of the city, especially Nadapuram, the political parties have initiated steps to restore peace in the region. The RSS has warned of retaliation if the CPM leadership fails to control the party workers who have been targeting the BJP-RSS and RMP activists in Vadakara-Nadapuram areas.
So far, eight persons have been injured in the post-election violence and arson. Many houses were destroyed. The RMP leadership alleged that all the martyr’s columns of T.P. Chandrasekharan, except the one at his home, were destroyed.
RMP leader K.K. Rema told DC that the CPM had unleashed terror against the RMP workers in Vadakara confirming the fascist lines of the party.
The Congress leadership has started steps to bring back normalcy. Mr M.K. Raghavan MP asked the regional leaders to bring all political parties to a common platform. “The CPM or the IUML will not be able to do it as they are battling each other,” he said.
In most cases, the CPM workers are alleged to be the perpetrators of violence and the police records also indicate their involvement. CPM district secretary P. Mohanan said that most of the senior leaders were in Thiruvananthapuram to discuss the formation of the new government. “A CPM delegation will visit the region to end the violence,” said.
