Hyderabad: Few can afford travelling in luxury trains. Last year the common folk had their hopes up that they might get to view the interiors of a luxury train when the SCR parked two coaches of a luxury train, Heritage on Wheels run by Rajasthan Tourism, outside Kacheguda station for public view.
However, the gates to the two coaches were always closed and the coaches have been gathering dust ever since. When contacted a senior SCR official said, “We were planning to develop the two coaches as eateries by leasing them to well known fast food chains or restaurant owners. SCR does not have enough money to maintain the train once it is opened for the public. We cannot charge a high price for tickets it is opened to the public. So it was decided that the two coaches will be leased out to some agency which can maintain them out of their own finances as well as run their business successfully. However, no one has come forward yet.”
