CBSE Kerala region on top with 98 per cent pass

In total, 31,444 candidates appeared for the examinations.

Thiruvananthapuram: For the second consecutive year, the Thiruvananthapuram region covering the whole state topped the pass percentage in the CBSE Class XII examinations, the results of which were announced on Saturday.

The overall pass percentage of Thiruvanathapuram region is 97.61 which is the highest compared to other regions, followed by Chennai which is 92.63 per cent. Last year also, the Thiruvanathapuram region had recorded the highest pass percentage of 95.41 per cent in the Class XII examinations. It is the youngest CBSE region established only last year.

In total, 31,444 candidates appeared for the examinations. They included 16,059 boys and 15,385 girls. Of them, 30,693 candidates, including 15,458 boys and 15,235 girls, passed the examinations.

The pass percentage of girls is 99.03 and boys 96.03. There are a total of 616 schools in the state. However, in individual performance, the state did not have any notable performance with none in the top ranks. Last year, two Malayali students had bagged top ranks.

They were M. Gayatri, Delhi-based Malayali girl, who studied in New Green Fields School, New Delhi, with 99.2 per cent, and B. Arjun of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram, with 99 percent. Government sector schools and Jawahar Navodaya Vidayalas have 100 percent pass, while Kendriya Vidyalayas have 99.44 percent and independent schools 97.59 percent. However, the pass percentage of private candidates is only 60.59.
