TSPCB and CII to reward green buildings

HYDERABAD: On the occasion of World Earth Day, the Confederation of Indian Industry – Indian Green Building Council (CII–IGBC) organised ‘IGBC’s green crusaders’ programme here on Saturday.

K. Ravi Kumar, senior environmental engineer, TSPCB; K. Vidhyadhar, director, DTCP; Murli Krishna Reddy, chairman, Credai Telangana; Ramachandra Reddy, president Credai Telangana; and Sunil Chandra Reddy, president, Naredco Telangana were present.

K.S. Venkatagiri, executive director, CII–GBC praised the commitment of people towards sustainable development with their thrust on ‘green’ projects.

C. Shekar Reddy, chairman of IGBC Hyderabad Chapter, appreciated the participants for their contribution to the green building movement. Stating that the movement had started in Hyderabad, he said that it had helped India achieve 10.26 billion sq.ft of registered green footprint from over 10,700 projects. India is now second in terms of the largest registered green building footprint.

He thanked Credai for their recent pledge to partner with IGBC to construct 4000 green projects by 2030. To spread the message, CII IGBC will be hosting ‘Green property show 2023’, at Hitex here on July 29-30.
