Thiruvananthapuram: By-polls to 12 local body wards in the state will be held on May 17 for which the model code of conduct is in force from April 15, according a statement from the state election commission. The seven grama panchayat wards going to the by-polls are Kizhakkakkara in Mallapally grama panchayat, Pathanamthitta, Kumarapuram in Ezhupunna grama panchayat, Alappuzha, Naduvikkara West in Vadanapally grama panchayat, Thrissur, Chiyannoor in Alancode grama panchyat and Chengani in Kannamangalam grama panchayat, Malappuram, Parakkadavu in Chekyad grama panchayat, Kozhikode, and Mattini in Payam grama panchayat, Kannur.
The four municipal wards s are Kumbazha west, Pathamathitta, Kandangali North in Payyannur, Uruvachhal in Mattannur and Iriyampadam in Feroke. The one block panchayat is Vengalam in Panthalayani, Kozhikode. Nominations could be filed till April 28. Counting would be held on May 18, said the statement.
