Builders eye JN Chaudhary foundation, try to raze it

On March 23, a builder came with machinery loaded on a tractor and started to demolish the foundation stone.

Hyderabad: The residents of Defence colony, Sainikpuri are upset over the fact that private builders are trying to demolish the JN Chaudhary foundation stone laid in the year 1964. The foundation stone was laid on a naturally formed rock in the remembrance of JN Chaudhary who liberated Hyderabad state. Mr. C.V.B.K. Murthy the president of defence colony residents welfare association said, “The foundation stone was laid 53 years ago and the survey number is 218/1, Malakajgiri, Hyderabad. This being the only one evidence of history is now being targeted by private builders for their personal benefits.”

He noted, “A builder on March 23 came along with machinery loaded on tractor and started to demolish the foundation stone. Upon enquiry, he said that he has the permission from GHMC and HMDA to demolish this stone. He also assured us that he will shift this stone to some other place after constructing a multi-story apartment. But when we pursued him to show the documents he didn’t come back.” This has happened couple of times till now as the builders are eyeing the property which is worth crores. We have also requested the GHMC commissioner to fence the property and safeguard it while developing this area as a garden so that it can be saved from encroachers, but there is no progress on it as well, said G. Somi Reddy the vice president of the association.
